For variable instrumentation 

Elegy nr 2 is composed for the musicians of the Academy of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and composed with financial support by the Foundation Concertgebouworkest, which to that end receives donations from such  as Ammodo, the Dutch Masters Foundation, the Swiss Friends of the Concertgebouw Orchestra,
the Don Quixote Foundation, De Salon, private donors and a number of commemorative funds.

Elegy nr. 2 is written for a variable instrumentation.
It consists of 8 parts. Any instrument that fits the compass of the part can play.
